Stu Stu Studio: I’ll have food n’ drinks, bad ass jewelry ;) and 99% sure that I will be doing the “Note Show” (working title :) It will be a show of framed, hand-written notes. Anything goes, they can be love notes, hate notes, post its, whatever!

Key Bank: Siolo Thompson
‘Artist Siolo Thompson will be showcasing a selection of oil and
watercolor portraits and figurative paintings. Her work features
mysterious landscapes, totemic animals, robots and objects. She will
be doing a live painting demonstration from 6 to 9.”

Dandelion Salon: Megan Key
“These paintings give you a look into my universe. In them I explore visions that spark when I practice yoga, meditate or am outside running. I use oil and acrylic to create a mix of colorful magical landscapes and sometimes creatures. My intention is that my paintings share this world with you, and I invite you to come see them and be inspired.

Irwin’s Bakery: Molly Donovan

Wallingford Dental Arts: Kristin Frost

KERF International: Local artist Warren A Pope and his son the next generation; who in his own words is an artist of illustrated “ambiguity.” The cool modern sophisticated sculptural forms of Warren A are a nice juxtapose to the playful imagery of Warren W. This works on many levels. Visit as you won’t be disappointed.

Fuel: Lonjina Verdugo

Seattle Mosaic Arts: is excited to hold its 2nd Annual Members Show, featuring work created by members of the Seattle Mosaic Arts community. Works range from small decorative items to larger architectural installations and garden art. As we approach our 2nd anniversary of being open, we encourage people to come and see some of the mosaics that have grown out of this studio in just two short years.

Bargain Fair Thrift Store: Photographer Graham Clark

Not A Number: Not A Number features a lot of local artists right now i can count at least 12 local artisans who have stuff in here (t-shirts, stickers, buttons, cards, books). This month we’re featuring a Tarot/Astrology Reader who makes astrology greeting cards as well as Elinor who makes unusual and colorful duct tape wallets.
Teahouse Kuan Yin will also be participating in the Art Walk this month (and all the months after that!).
Our walls are presently proudly displaying the art of Mary Magenta, a painter and artist for more than three decades. Mary has produced a vast body of beautiful work and for the month of June, she has compiled for us a new collection of oil paintings entitled “Serene Scenes”.
“My subjects are moon-, sky-, sea-, and landscapes. I attempt to show our earth in all her magic. I hope my works will give your soul a place to rest and the space to dream…” says Mary of her work.

Polyrhythmics Debut Album: “Labrador” to be released June 1st 2011

Polyrhythmics will release their long anticipated, fan funded, debut full length album on June 1st2011.  A virtual rhythmic journey to all corners of the earth, “Labrador” incorporates all of the dynamic interplay, deep, percolating grooves, and melodic wizardry that audiences across the Northwest have latched onto during the band’s first year of live performances.  Polyrhythmics’ early acclaim found them turning down some very well known, nationally acclaimed artists who contacted the band about guesting on their first album.  “ We wanted to present the sound of the “Polyrhythmics” in a pure and honest format to our loyal fans and supporters who have packed the clubs and funded this recording through our kickstarter campaign”, says Ben Bloom guitarist, and manager for Polyrhthmics.

Polyrhythmics came together to record their now sold out EP in Jan of 2010.  After just three rehearsals, the band entered the studio to record “live” in one room together.  The result was a magical alchemy of dance grooves, jazz hooks and spontaneous improvisation that was dripping with originality, while paying homage to the great funk and soul dance bands of the late 60’s and early 70’s.   Receiving radio play across the Great Northwest, the band soon found themselves performing to packed clubs and festival audiences.  After a year of further developing their distinct yet tangible sound, the band launched a “kickstarter” campaign to fund the recording of their first full-length album.  The resulting “Labrador” is a 9-song powerhouse full of brooding dance grooves, and catchy layered horn melodies. Recorded at Sleng Teng Studios in Bellingham, specifically for it’s vintage sound, the recording process was very similar to their approach on the EP: “live” in one room, just like the greats of yester-year.  Drawing from modern influences such as the Budos Band and The Whitefield Brothers as well as their original influences like Fela Kuti, and James Brown, “Labrador” is a shining example of the chemistry between these 8 talented performers and why in a seemingly endless sea of new funk bands, Polyrhythmics is the band everyone is talking about.

After releasing “Labrador” with a free hometown show in Seattle, WA at Wallingford Center on June 1st, additional CD release shows are planned for: OlympiaWA on June 2nd @ The Eastside Club,Seattle, WA on June 25th @ The Hard Rock Café, PortlandOR on June 30th @ The Goodfoot, and inBellinghamWA on July 8th @ The Boundary Bay Brewery.

Polyrhythmics will continue to tour regionally throughout the summer in support of the new album, and plan to head back into the studio in late fall.
